MAINTENANCE
TUNING & BRAKES
When it comes to safety, no part of your vehicle is more important than the brakes. They should be inspected at least once a year to determine the condition of the hydraulic system and operating hardware. While the entire braking system requires attention, the friction components (pads, shoes, rotors and drums) require constant attention because they wear down each time you apply your brakes.
How can I tell when I need a brake service or brake repair?
-
The brake pedal can be depressed nearly to the floor.
-
You hear a squealing or other unusual noise when you apply the brakes. Some brands of brake pads have a built-in device that produces a high-pitched squeal when the brake pads need replacing.
-
The vehicle pulls to one side when you apply the brakes.
-
You feel a grinding or bumpy sensation as you come to a stop.
-
In general, if there is something about your brakes that is making you uncomfortable, you should have them inspected.
What are the benefits of a properly maintained braking system?
-
Safety
-
Firm and steady pedal feel
-
Peace of mind
-
Consistent stopping under repeated hard braking conditions
-
Even braking
-
Longer brake system component and friction material life
-
Smooth stopping
CAR SERVICING

At Dup’s Motors we offer the following:

Oil Change Service
This should be carried out between services or before taking a long journey. Oil is vital to keep your engine running smoothly as it lubricates vital components. Here’s what an oil service includes:
-
Oil and oil filter change
-
Tyre, battery, wiper and lights checks
-
Top up of essential fluids such as brake fluid, windscreen washer fluid and power steering
An oil change service is not classed as a service so your car’s book will not be stamped, this only happens after an interim or full service.
Interim Car Service
An interim car service should usually be carried out every 6 months or 7 500km. This will keep your car safe and roadworthy in-between full services.
Full Car Service
A full car service should be carried out every 10 000km to 15 000km or 12 months (or at the interval specified by your manufacturer) to keep your car maintained correctly. It is important to have a full service carried out as a trained mechanic could spot damage early and prevent further costs if something were to go wrong with your car. It is unlikely that you will be able to spot any potential problems yourself.
